I made a discovery as I read the story of the life of David Livingstone, the Scottish missionary to Africa: Many people do not know that David Livingstone had a brother called John Livingstone. The account says the two brothers were very brilliant, very intelligent and highly educated.
When they were teenagers, David Livingstone discovered that the will of God for him was to be a missionary to Africa, while John decided to go into the business world to make money. Indeed, John made a lot of money and became very wealthy, because he invested his time and wisdom in making wealth.
One may ask, “Is making money wrong?” No, it isn’t. But in the pursuit of destiny, the most important thing is aligning yourself to God’s operation on the earth. After all is said and done, you will only be rewarded in eternity for the life of purpose you lived. But the sad truth is that so many people never get to touch the periphery of their destiny because their life’s ambition was in misalignment to the actual plan of God for them.
David Livingstone abandoned lucrative offers in Britain and came to Africa to preach the gospel where he suffered malaria attacks at the time when it was still notorious as a killer–disease (it still kills some people today). In the opinion of many, David Livingstone was being foolish, and they thought he should have taken the easier road like his brother John took.
When David Livingstone died, the then prime minister was there to welcome the corpse and he was buried in Westminster Abbey where ministers are buried in the United Kingdom.
What an honour!
In the Who’s Who encyclopedia, many things were written about David Livingstone in his honour. But getting to the portion written on John, the only thing said about him was “He was the brother of David Livingstone”. May you never be described like that in Jesus name!
There are many people that other people will be used to describe them saying, “she was the mother of …” or, “the sister of …”, “the wife of …” etc. But I want you to see how the woman mentioned in Proverbs 31:10, described her husband: “The husband of the virtuous woman”.
It is extremely important at this point that you sit down and receive a word that will take you into the class that you rightly belong.
What are you to be in your destiny?
Find it on time and start becoming it as fast as possible!
Are you going to be an intercessor or just the wife of an evangelist?
Will you be another ‘great woman of Shunem’ or just the mother of a pastor ?
Will you be a deliverer or just a friend to a kingdom financier?
May you not just hang around people of destiny….
May yours be a reality in Jesus Name!
