Tools the Enemy uses against your Walk with God

In this edition, we shall be exposing various tools the enemy uses to hinder us from developing that close walk with God

Tools List of the Devil

• Sin– This is anything that makes you fall short of God’s standards of righteousness. Grace is available in Christ Jesus to live above sin
• Illegal busyness– The devil specializes in orchestrating seemingly urgent tasks that steal away time and are eventually not worth your while. Beware of this and learn to take authority of your day. Spending quiet time with God daily is the solution as it helps you become more effective from forehand information received in His presence.
• Offenses, Unforgiveness and Worry- Jesus said if you do not forgive your brethren, how will your heavenly Father forgive you your wrong doings Matt 6:15.

Asides these unforgiveness, worry and offense steal away your peace. Even medical science discovered that these are the main subtle causes of incurable diseases. They specialize in breaking down your body’s defenses at a cellular level. Nothing is worth holding a grudge over. Let go and let God step in.

Therefore, don’t worry and say, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ Gentiles long for all these things. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them. Instead, desire first and foremost God’s kingdom and God’s righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, stop worrying about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Matt 6:31-34

• Wrong pleasure and entertainment
• Wrong associations– If your close friends do not like the things of God, you won’t have a strong spiritual life
• Unbroken negative covenants in the lives of people

Some people do not know that the devil doesn’t want to only hinder them, but that he has a foothold in their lives. Many find themselves with experiences that are strange, like flying, eating or having sex in the dream etc. You can easily free yourself when you know what legal grounds exist.

In Africa, we have what is called ‘beere’ which are tattoo-like incision marks that are given to people where which spirits are invoked into the cut to ‘safeguard’ or ‘heal’ the sick. That is a demonic contract that empowers negative spirits to begin to supervise and operate in one’s life and will be a hindrance to you moving forward with God. When you get born again, the spirit behind those covenants must be officially rejected because that covenant is a legal document.

You have to check your life to be sure nothing like that is there because even after salvation, that spirit though illegal wants to still exercise its hold because the devil is an outlaw. So you must use the blood of Jesus and renounce that covenant.

The blood of Jesus is the only legal ground to cancel every legal evil covenant

• Hidden demonic activities

You have to ensure you are aware of all that is behind events you attend. Do not be ignorantly caught up in activities dedicated to idols. Some people have things in their lives they do not know of. You must be sincere with yourself to surrender for prayers and ministration to break any of such holds on you. (Checkout: Deliverance)

Most sinful activities are pleasurable and may look ‘unharmful’ but they have demons behind them. That is why the Holy Spirit in us warns us. If we consistently disobey the Holy Spirit, He has no option but to step aside and an evil spirit jumps in. By this time deliverance needs to be sought.

• Lack of true salvation– Some people think they are born again when they are not. Did you truly get born again? Membership of a church denomination does not make or mean you are born again. (Checkout Assurance of salvation, How do I get born again). Or have you backslidden into past sinful habits? When people get born again, they should allow God to free them from illegal baggage
• Not getting baptized in the Holy Ghost
• Tiredness– when you are genuinely tired, it is difficult to have a prayer life, but still, you have to find a way to prayer. It could be in the night after you have rested, or finding bits of time during the day to withdraw into quiet times with God

Having said these, it is knowledge of the truth that is the first step to freedom John 8:32. Once you have renounced any contract with the devil, if you are serious about being free, the devil will leave. Here are some prayers to jump start your deliverance

Prayer Points

• Everywhere that the system of the world has penetrated my life, I reject it. I take authority over it in the name of Jesus
• Every training that the devil had given me, before I got saved that is hindering my spiritual walk, I reject that training now; I receive the help of the Holy Spirit to retrain myself to walk with God
• I take authority over every way the devil is using the training and the system of the world to attack my spiritual life
• Everywhere the devil is operating in my life to hinder my spiritual life; I command and exposure of such and I take authority over them now. I plead the blood of Jesus against them
• I reject every demonic assault, I take authority over every demonic operation hindering my spiritual life. I break that yoke of the devil (mention the specific attack/habit or training)
• I plead the blood of Jesus against any demonic assault
• I shake off any hindrance in the name of Jesus
